Novatech's environmental efforts are recognized across Québec

Novatech Group is pleased to announce that its environmental efforts have been recognized across Québec! RCI environnement has created a video presentation to highlight Novatech’s daily actions geared towards preserving our planet. This 45-second video will be shown 600 times in the various broadcasts by V télé during the weeks of July 12, 19 and 26, 2010 (in the Montreal, Quebec City and Trois-Rivières regions).

Novatech Group has always had a strong commitment towards the community. Novatech firmly believes that environmental and social responsibilities go hand in hand with business success! Thus, energy conservation and environmental concerns represent absolute priorities at all levels of our organization. Whether it’s through our “lean” production processes or our recycling programs, we are determined to conserve the resources and eliminate the losses.

Over the past few years, we have worked on several projects in harmony with the environment:

• Installation of a solar wall during the construction of the entry door plant in 2006. This wall provides a portion of our heating in winter and eliminates the release of 60 tonnes of Co2 per year.
• Over the past 12 months, we have recuperated 355 tonnes of raw materials such as glass, metals, plastic, paper and cardboard, ink cartridges, batteries, aluminium and wood. This represents a recycling rate of 74%. Our objective is to reach a rate of 80% for recycling raw materials.
• Use of a digital archiving system in order to reduce the amount of paper thrown out (20% reduction in paper consumption in the offices).
• Implementation of a water recuperation system in two plants belonging to the Novatech Group.
• Replacement of all the light fixtures in the offices and plants with more energy efficient ones.
• Elimination of expanded polystyrene through the use of recycled and recyclable cardboard to wrap and protect the units for shipping.

In addition, in 2010, the Novatech team, always at the forefront of progress, launched a new generation of decorative doorglass, which is offered as standard with Energitech ® glass (Low E and argon gas glass). This new product range helps preserve the environment because the use of Energitech ® glass reduces greenhouse gas emissions (Co2) by half a tonne per year compared to the same house fitted with identical windows and doors. In addition, it increases the energy efficiency of the glass by 63%.

We should also add that Novatech’s industrial activities do not send any pollutant in the air or water.
